Digital Channel Board(1)
Digital Channels
Ch0-Ch63 Digital Channels 0 to 63 (7V/50mA)
Ch0, 4, 32, 36 Digital Channels and High Voltage Drivers (16V/110mA)
Muxing of Digital Channels
2 adjacent channels are connected tester internally e.g. 0, 1 or14, 15 etc.
the odd numbered channel provides the multiplexed signal to the hardware
UtilityBits
Util0-Util7 Used to Control external Relay & User Circuits (12V/40mA)
Select a 5V relay with coil impedance between 230 and 370 Ohms for the “low side switched”UtilityBitoutput. It is not recommended using 12 volt or higher voltage relays. If not used do not GND
BPMU used as a Power Supply
Force Board PMU Force line (24V/200mA)
Typically not connected. If not used do not GND
Sense Board PMU Sense line (24V/2mA)
Connect a thin 12mil trace to the closest point to the DUT BPMU Force pin Typically not connected. If not used do not GND
When Force and Sense are wired to a DUT Power Pin, these lines should be connected together as close to the Power Pin as possible
GuardBoard PMU Guard line (24V/2mA)
Shall surround the Force line. Typically not connected. If not used do not GND
Ext_S External Sense (BPMU Access) (24V/200mA)
Not connected, do not GND
Ext_F External Force (BPMU Access) (24V/200mA) Used for Calibration only !!!
Not connected, do not GND
TUG 2001 paper: “Using a BPMU as a Power Supply”
DGS Device Ground Sense
All Channel Board Device Ground Sense have to be connected to GND for used channel boards. Place the junction as close to the DUT as possible. Unused may be connected directly to GND at pogo
GND Digital Ground (0V/50...110mA)
Connect to Ground at pogo
Extra Extra Pogos
Not used
Digital Channel Layout Instructions
Maintain 50 Ohm impedance +/-10%
Longest to shortest digital trace difference 1000ps
Connect all Digital Grounds to Digital Ground Plane
Separate Digital Ground Planes by test site
DPS(1) –Connection Overview
Resources per DPS Channel
ALC Alternate DPS Level Control (5V/1mA) per DPS board
Pattern controlled if routed to a Digital Channel
Force Force Line (10V/1A)
Connect to the DUT Power pin
Sense Sense Line (10V/1mA)
Connect a thin 12mil trace to the closest point to the DUT Powerpin
When Force and Sense are wired to a DUT power pin, these lines should be connected together as close to the power pin as possible
Guard Guard Line(10V/1mA)
Shall surround the Force line. If not used do not GND
DGS Device Ground Sense (0V/1mA), per DPS channel
Connect as close as possible to GND at the DUT
FRTN Force Return (0V/1A), per DPS channel
Should be grounded to the DUT power GND
DPS(2) –Connection & Ganging
DPS Ganging
only the Sense lines are tied together internally in the DPS
the Force line of each DPS must be tied together on the DIB
Connect the Sense line from the lowest numbered supply of the group to the Force line as close to the device as possible. The remaining sense lines should not be connected
DPS(3) -MOUT Circuit
MOUT Current Measure Out Line (6V/1mA)
Typically not connected. If not used do not GND
MRTN Measure Return Line (0V/1mA)
Typically not connected. If not used do not GND.This signal is also grounded in the Power Supply

Power and Ground Layout Instructions
1.Separate Ground and Power Planes by test site (split ground planes) –not run traces over gaps in the Ground Plane (trace discontinuity)
2.DPS Force and Force Return lines shall have the lowest impedanceas possible (plane)
3.If Power Planes are not used the trace shall be 50 mils wide forDPS Force
4.Surround DPS Force with Guard line
5.For used DPS place the junction to the DPS Device Ground Sense as close to the DUT as possible. Unused DPS Device Ground Sense may be left
6.Connect all Digital Signal Grounds to Digital Ground Plane and the Analog Signal Grounds to the Analog Ground Plane
7.Separate Analog and Digital Ground and connect the two Grounds together as close to the device as possible. Recommendation to use two viasunder each DUT for the connection of the DUT Analog and Digital Ground
8.The AnalogDPS DGS ties into the respective DUT AGND star junction and theDigital DPS DGS ties into the respective DGND as close to the device as possible
9.The AnalogDPS FRTNs will tie into their respective DUT AGND start junction and the Digital DPS FRTNs will tie into the Digital Ground Plane
